Foggy Note

Yes, the title is named after a horse, but it is appropriate for today. Foggy Note the horse was a grey/roan filly by The Axe II out of Silver Song by Royal Note. Why is she relevant? Well, she was a stakes winner of over 100 grand, but that's not all. She was an excellent producer too. I know of her mainly because she was bred to my favorite sire line--that of the Goldolphin Arabian through Man O'War, through In Reality. One of the resulting foals was Relaunch, a grey behemoth of a colt, who later went on to be a successful stallion. Ok enough horse history, on to what's going on with me.

Fog is one of those things I almost never see in Wyoming. Fog is one of those things I see at least once a week if not more frequently here. Upon waking up, I did my ab work out like a good child, a load of dishes, and got ready to go for my Tuesday morning run. Looking out my window, uphill, the sky was cloudy. I was in shorts. Walked out of my flat towards campus/downhill and it was foggy. Made a prompt U-turn and immediately went back and put on my windpants. The thing is, with the University of Birmingham campus, it is essentially positioned on several hills. From the dorms down to campus is the highest one, but the campus also wraps around the hills too, if that makes sense. Yes, I need to post pics, no I don't know how to do that yet. I also need to just set aside a photos day, still trying to get this statue in the fountain by the Guild of Students correctly, but no luck so far. Who knew that shooting mermaids would be so difficult?

In the realm of academia this week classes are going well. My musical of the week to watch is Meet Me in Saint Louis. This will happen on Wednesday. Wednesday is also my longest/busiest day. No essays or homework assignments due yet, just mainly A LOT of reading every week. Having an hour long seminar and not having read the assignments does not fly here, and oddly enough, I do speak up in class more than I would back home, go fig'--especially in my CIA in America Since 1945 class. Learning loads about stuff that I really should have been aware of before I jumped across the pond. Higher education learning opportunities are wonderful things I must say.

This Saturday I am going to try to get out of my flat, after a run of course, and go exploring. Think I have forgotten to mention that Birmingham happens to be the headquarters of Cadbury chocolate. You can start placing your orders now :P. As well, the Parker/Hale rifle company was based here, need to find out if it still is, because my dad's hunting rifle (and also mine, because I use the same gun) was made in Birmingham. Overall I've decided to do most of my traveling during the April break. It just makes far more sense for me, the reading taking up most of my week.
Cheers to you all, in all the myriad places you are,
The Flying Sunshine

  3. Cadbury!!!!!!! I was in greater Cadburia as Brandon called it, and I miss it... and you wont have homework probably until a week or so before the break and then it is CRAZY ... and definately do the work for the tutorials/seminars... if you do it most the time they let it slide if you just sit there quiet once and a while tho (*I was always prepared hahahaha*) Also I am noticing you are picking up terminology... wow... Eat all the Cadbury you can, you will walk enough over there it wont matter and you will miss it when you come back i promise

  4. I have a presentation in less than two weeks and an English essay due the same day. About 10 days after that I have two essays due, but they are right after the "break" week. So strange, but at least I'll do a good job.
